Build Guide

1. Check the board firmware

TIP: You might want to go to the 8mu Editor and set up some banks with different settings - for example, turn off some of the gesture channels by setting the channel to zero. this makes the 8mu a bit more manageable in use.

8mu is also designed to be open and hackable. It can be re-programmed in Arduino or Circuit Python code, and makes a good platform for experimenting with algorithmic music generation. You could probably add OSC control, and can even output (loud and gnarly) audio from the 3.5mm MIDI port.

Use the Arduino IDE with 8mu

Use Circuit Python with 8mu

You can switch between Arduino and Circuit Python easily. Install CP by dropping this Circuit Python firmware .uf2 file onto the bootloader (described below). Switch back to Arduino by installing Arduino code from the IDE. The CP filesystem normally remains in place on the external flash memory.
