It's a black (or blue) box, about the size of a large dictionary. Load it up with samples, and it's a great drum machine. Load up some loops, and it can chop them like Ableton. Connect it to a midi keyboard and some modules, and it's a great sequencer. I've found that making music with my MPC is faster and more fun than doing it all in the computer. The MPC-1000 is right in the middle of the range - It's expandable (you can put in an 80gb hard drive and 128mb of memory) but still portable. If you need something you can play with on the bus, then the new MPC-500 is good, but the 1000 is a real, solid, professional machine. And perhaps the best thing about the MPC-1000 is the 'JJ' unofficial operating system, which gives it most of the features of the MPC-2500, and many new ones, plus almost weekly updates and bug fixes, for $30.

Zvex Effects Pedals
MFB Synth II
Moogerfooger MURF
DSI Desktop Evolver
2) How does it work?
This isn't a real shop. I don't have a garage full of MPC1000s. I'm not planning to spend the rest of my life queueing at the post office.
All the items are supplied by different online retailers in the US, UK and Europe. I get a cut of the sale price.
3) Why do you only sell a few items?
Hopefully, these items are like a Christmas list. Most of them aren't essential, but they're
great, sexy, desireable, even collectable pieces of kit which I think you'll feel good about owning.
4) Hey! I clicked through, the price was higher/lower than you said, and the item is out of stock. You suck!
If you can't tell by looking at it, this isn't the hub of a clever network of databases. It's a hand edited page with a bunch of links. Things
will definitely be wrong. Sorry. Also, if you're dealing with Thomann, there may be currency conversion issues.
5) Where's my stuff?
Sorry, you'll have to take that up with the retailer. If you have a problem you think I should know about, email me, but I can't guarantee
I'll be able to help.
6) I've got an idea for something cool you should sell
Great! Email me
7) I'd like to buy something from you, but what I really want is a...
I think that if you click on one of the 'buy' links, go to the big online store, and navigate to whatever item you're looking for, then I still get a piece of the action. If not, thanks for the thought.
8) My ad-blocking software won't let me click on your links!
Yes, that's because they're ads.
9) I'm using and your site looks all ugly and broken. What's up with that?
It's supposed to look like that.
10) Affiliate links are evil! This is spyware! Music Thing has sold out!
OK, sorry about that. Here are some funny links:
